2008 OLYMPIC HOPEFULS
Tim HornsbyHometown : Atlanta, GA Birthdate : 06/20/1986 Height : 6’2” Weight : 185lbs Tim Hornsby began kayaking in 1997, the year after the Atlanta Olympics, at the young age of 11. What began as a summer sport turned into a full-time, year round commitment. After spending his summers kayaking on Lake Lanier, Hornsby began to train year round. His dedication paid off in 2003 when he was chosen to represent the U.S. at the Junior World Championships in Japan. It was there that he set his sights on the 2008 Olympics. Every year thereafter, Hornsby has earned a spot on the U.S. National Team and has taken one step closer to his Olympic dream. Hornsby placed 6th in the K-4 500m and 1000m during the 2003 World Cup in Poznan, Poland. In 2006, Hornsby placed 5th in the K-2 500m during the Pan American Games in Mexico City, Mexico. Hornsby attends the University of California, San Diego where he is studying Aerospace Engineering. |
