Pat Dolan started on the water in a surfski program at his high school. He did well, but wanted to go faster so he decided to pursue competitive kayaking. One year later, Dolan was in the Junior World Trials. Dolan competed in the 2005 Youth Olympics and won gold in the K-1 500m and silver in the K-1 1000m. He was invited to try out for the Senior World Championship team in the K-4. He didn’t make it, but was invited back to train. In 2007, Dolan made the team.

Coming from an outrigger background, Dolan loves the endurance distances. He braved the Starbucks Kaiwi Channel Relay, a grueling 40 mile open-ocean race, and won at the age of 16. In 2006, Dolan placed 4th in the OC1 World Championship.

Dolan plans to graduate in 2012 with a degree in Kinesiology from the University of California, San Diego. He enjoys surfing, guitar, tennis and golf.
