Morgan House used to watch his friends paddle around from his dock on Lake Lanier in Georgia. He became a recreational kayaker himself until the day he watched Olympic paddlers racing across that same lake. From then on, House has raced competitively, striving for the chance to compete in the Olympics.

House quickly established his reputation by placing 5th at the Junior World Championships in 2005 and raced in the Senior World Championships the same year. House was named the Canoe/Kayak Male Athlete of the Year for these stellar performances.

House likes the solitary challenge of the K-1. He explained, “I have to rely on myself. If anything goes wrong, or goes right, it ultimately comes down to you.”

House, a former Eagle Scout, is an avid outdoorsman. In addition to kayaking, he enjoys backpacking, camping, fishing and hiking. He plans to enroll in the fall at the University of California, San Diego and study Business or English.
