2008 OLYMPIC HOPEFULS
Jordan MallochHometown : Seattle, WA Birthdate : 09/02/1978 Height : 6’0” Weight : 190lbs Workout Song : Bored, Deftones It was a twist of fate that the rowing class on Seattle’s Green Lake happened to be full the same time Jordan Malloch was looking to sign up. Instead, he signed up for the canoe/kayak program. He excelled naturally and quickly established himself as the future of American canoeing. In 1995, Malloch made the Junior World Team and became the first American junior canoeist to ever make the finals. At the 1999 Pan American Games, Malloch won bronze medals in both C-2 500m and C-2 1000m. He finished 15th in C-1 500m at the 2000 Olympic Games. He also qualified and competed in the 2004 Olympics in Athens and captured a bronze at the World Cup in C-2 500m the same year. He placed 9th at the 2007 World Cup and 10th in the 2007 World Championship, both in the C-1 1000m. In high school, Malloch was a top-ten finalist for the Dial Award, an award given to the top ten high school athletes in the country. He went on to attend the University of Washington and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Business with an emphasis in Accounting. Malloch works in real estate in Seattle, WA where he lives with his wife Shannon and newborn son Kai. |
